Laure & Fons dreamed of a wedding in the heart of Groningen, a city that holds a special meaning for them. Their day was filled with beautiful locations, all within walking distance of each other: their wedding ceremony in the Martinikerk, a reception and dinner at Prinsenhof, and a wedding party at De Uurwerker.
When I first met Laure and Fons, they spoke about their plans with so much excitement, and it was clear how much Groningen meant to them. A year before their wedding, we captured their engagement shoot in at Hoge der A and in the Noorderplantsoen, two of my favorite photoshoot locations in the city. These images were later used for their wedding invitations, making them even more special.
On July 28, I hopped on my bicycle (yes, it was that close to my home!) and made my way to Prinsenhof, where Laure was getting ready with her sister and best friend. The interior of Prinsenhof was the perfect setting for a romantic and timeless feel of the day. The morning was calm and relaxed, which is always ideal for capturing natural and beautiful moments, as it keeps the bride at ease.
Their first look took place in the Prinsentuin, a dream location for such an intimate moment.
Afterward, we wandered through the gardens and Martinikerkhof for their wedding portraits. And we made it a little maternity session, since they are expecting a baby. Which made it extra special!
The ceremony took place in Martinikerk Groningen, just a short walk from Prinsenhof. Surrounded by friends and family from Belgium, the south of the Netherlands, and Groningen, they shared this special moment together.
Afterward, they walked with their guests to Prinsenhof Groningen and celebrated with a toast in the Prinsentuin. It was so lovely to see Laure and Fons leading the way, with all their guests following behind them in a beautiful array of colors.
After the reception, Laure and Fons enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Prinsenhof with their guests, one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Groningen.
Just before sunset, we did a short golden hour shoot in the Prinsentuin and at the Martinikerkhof. This soft, warm light always creates magical wedding photos.
They ended their wedding day at Kleintje Uurwerker, which was also within walking distance of Prinsenhof Groningen. I loved how this wedding felt so connected to the city of Groningen, and since I was born and have lived here my whole life, it felt extra special to be a part of this day.
